QB Music Bio
QB Music, legal name of Keith McKinney, has been involved with music since age five. In these early ages, he would sit in his living room and listen as his brothers’ band, Shades of Ebony, practiced for hours as the number one band in the Texas Region area in the late 70s. The musical influence was evident as he played drums for the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and assisted his brother on music projects as he got older. This led to Keith starting his producing career at 14, helping to write a regional hit RnB song in Texas. QB Music’s first official project, QB Productions, was completed in 1997 but was never released due to label disputes and contract breakdowns. Frustrated with the business side of music, Keith spent the following years as a contracted ghostwriter and producer of many projects of various genres. Friends, family, and fans wondered if Keith would resurface directly into the music scene.
After the passing of his brother, SOE entertainment founder and lifelong musician Alonzo (Mac) McKinney, Keith decided it was time to continue to complete what had been left undone, with this first album being dedicated to his brother. The first single, ‘Can I Breathe,’ was released on MLK Day 2021 as a timely social justice piece addressing current events to critical acclaim.
“Incredible feel! The instrumental track lands hard and allows the lyrical content to feel even more meaningful and well-constructed than it already is. Lyrically, this is a killer work. All together, these elements conspire to deliver a listening experience that’s as memorable as it is meaningful!” – Jon Wright, Music publisher/Grammy Winning Composer
In the past five years, Keith has been busy producing three full albums, two EPs, and over two dozen singles of various artists, including Christian Music Artist Christian McKinney, his son, who is now also writing and producing. With a blended style of Jazz, RnB, Pop, and Hip-Hop, QB Music displays a unique, fresh style that has yet to be felt in music in years. He serves as Executive Producer for All Hale and maintains quality control over all music produced through All Hale Music. It is done with an emphasis on reducing explicit lyrics to provide music everyone can share and listen to.
